Are You Ready to be a Manager?

Some people want to get into management to have power. Others want to get into management to give other people power.

That’s a line I’ve used hundreds of times when coaching salespeople and leaders on if someone is ready to make the move from individual contributor to manager. There are many reasons someone would want to move into management - prestige, money, career progression, the ability to help others, and for some they just want power.
